AI is now in a billion pockets. ChatGPT reportedly crossed a billion monthly active users in May, which makes it the fastest app in history to get there.
Here is what I noticed, and what I think it means for the way we work.
LinkedIn opened up AI search to everyone
As I understand it, LinkedIn has rolled out its AI-powered conversational search to every user, worldwide.
You describe who you're looking for in plain language, and the platform finds them.
Most people will probably use it to look for jobs.
Actually, come to think of it, the more interesting use case is the other way round.
Your ideal client describes their problem in a sentence and your profile surfaces.
Assuming your profile ACTUALLY says what you do and who you help (a lot of profiles don't).
So the question I keep coming back to is: If someone described their problem in a single sentence, would your profile be the answer that comes up?
What I find myself reading twice now
Given that a billion people are walking around with a competent writer in their pocket, aka ChatGPT, it seems like anyone can produce clean confident writing within seconds.
And sure enough, my LinkedIn feed is filling up with posts that read pretty well but leave me with nothing ... well ... meaningful.
Somehow it feels less human.
The experience feels like what the Australian Tax Office would describe as an 'arms length transaction'.
The frontier models keep getting better, quietly
The Frontier models seem to keep getting better and things like Claude's Fable 5, (the most recent release from Anthropic) is a cut above the rest. At least in my experience.
What seems scarce (and matters most now) is a real HUMAN POV.
The kind that can only come from your own LIVED experience and judgment.
What matters now is how clearly you think, how deliberately you apply these tools to a SMALL group of people you CHOOSE to serve (niche).
So that's the through line for the week, I think.
