The Secret to Content That Actually Sells

Most content fails because it doesn’t meet people where they are.

Great content (and great sales conversations) are usually built around one simple truth:

Your prospective customers have a problem and they desperately need help solving it.

Right now, they’re stuck.

They’re living in what I call the negative present.

A situation that isn’t working.

A problem that nags at them

A frustration they’d love to stop thinking about.

And then there's a positive future.

A version of life where that problem is solved and they're free.

Your content's job is to show them you understand their negative present and show them how to get to their positive future.

And why you’re the person who can help them make that journey.

When you do this well, you become the obvious choice.

For example, someone considering an elective service like Invisalign isn’t just buying straight teeth.

They’re buying:

  • Confidence when they smile
  • A more professional appearance
  • Peace of mind about their long-term health
  • A solution that fits seamlessly into their life

To uncover these aspirations, ask better questions:

  • “If this problem disappeared, what would change in your life?”
  • “What would you do first if this was solved?”
  • “What would you stop worrying about?”

These answers reveal motivation.

And motivation is what turns attention into action.

The goal isn’t to hype your solution or hustle your way into their wallet.

The goal is clarity.

Ask yourself:

  • How would my customer describe a 10 out of 10 experience?
  • What would make them say, “This is exactly what I was hoping for”?

When you can articulate the transformation clearly, not vaguely, trust increases.

People don’t need to be convinced.

They need to recognize themselves in the story you’re telling.

Focus less on what you’re selling and more on demonstrating that you deeply understand your customer’s journey.

That’s the real secret to content that sells.

Ciao for now,
